The Happy Mexican

Even if very busy on Tuesdays it's worth the wait for half-price tacos! Or try Thursdays with discounted Burritos (the chicken is a Laird staff favourite). The one thing that is garunteed, is that no matter what day you go, the service, food and Margharita's are magnífico!

Featured on tap at The Laird, Stomping ground is one of melbourne's great "micro-brewery success stories. It's a brewery & tavern offering its own brand of tap beers & bar grub in an open, roomy setup.

Le Bon Ton
A smallSaloon-style joint with a smokehouse and beer garden, for Southern US-style grills and absinthe. Staff suggestions: Southern Fried Buttermilk Chicken and fresh-squeezed watermelon juice.

Bomb Cafe
Smack bang in one of Melnbourne's up-and-coming streets-to-be - the Abbotsford end of Johnston Street. Great assortment of pastries, rolls etc. and eco-friendly coffee. Worth heading out back for the tranquil back yard setting.

Also in the cool part of Johnston Street Abbotsford is Bodriggy Brewpub is a new brewery-home located in Abbotsford culminating in a brewery, brewpub, cocktail bar and Froff Shop (bottle shop)..

Abbotsford Convent and Children’s Farm
Worth it just for the country-meets-city atmosphere. The Convent Bakery and Children’s Farm Café are highly recommended for breakfast. 10 minutes’ walk from the Laird along the Yarra River.

While Vietnamese restaurants dominate, Melbourne’s ‘Little Saigon’ also has Thai, Chinese, Indian and Korean as well.

Smith Street
